Top 12 ways to look and feel younger

Ever since the dawn of time, people have always looked for a way to make themselves look and feel younger. Some talk of “The fountain of Youth”, but it seems it is only a myth.  And yet, there are people who, even though the years have never stopped, still look and sound so young. What secret do these people have, what magical powers do these possess…or is it a case of no secret, or no magic, but a situation of doing certain things, and not doing others?

If we’re to touch the macabre, they say that if you sell your soul to the Devil, the Devil may grant you eternal youth.

You sure would have heard the story of Dorian Gray. The Englishman whose image was captured in a painting kept him from getting old. The Devil was also involved here, as Mr. Oscar Wilde tells us that Mr. Gray had exchanged his soul for eternal beauty.

Strange and eerie…but is any of this true? Is there an ounce of truth in any of these tales?

Some methods have been tried, but the most important thing for us to do is to stick with healthy ways of living and eating, and to leave things like Dorian Gray be…

We can’t stop natural aging, but we may look and feel younger

Sadly, we can’t stop natural aging, yet, if we work hard to slow it down, we can make ourselves look and feel younger.

So, here are 12 easy things you can do to make yourself look younger, and feel better. These are listed in no particular order of importance.

Our skin will be healthier if we get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep every day. Sleep is also important because this is when the growth hormone is at work. It helps old cells in our bodies, like skin cells, grow back. Our skin will look young and healthy if we get enough sleep. For many, sleep doesn’t come easy, but there are ways and means to help you with this.

If we work out regularly, we’ll be happier, have more energy, and feel better about ourselves. It also makes our bones and muscles stronger and makes us look 10-15 years younger. If you were to go to the gym to do lifting exercises, as well as aerobics, walking, biking it, and swimming, you will be doing yourself a favor. If you can’t be bothered with the gym or aerobics, or if walking where you live isn’t possible, swimming is most probably one of the best exercises you can do.

Be positive

This is not as easy as it sounds, especially if you have been beaten up and life hasn’t been good to you. But, having a positive attitude can help us to live a more positive life. If we were to cultivate negative thoughts, these will make us look older and less attractive. One way to get into the positive side of life, and it’s not as difficult as you think, is to meditate.

Our body is full of toxins of all kinds. These accumulate through food, the air that we breathe, and other ways of utilizing the environment. Thank goodness, our body gets rid of most of these toxins daily, but we can help ourselves by fasting or eating fruit and vegetables.

This always helps in many ways. If we try to relax, our faces will look younger. Our faces show that we are worried and stressed. If we can handle our stress and feel at peace, we will look younger and more beautiful.

This comes as essential. Yet, not any food is good, and as the saying goes, “We are what we eat”. We are expected to eat food that is healthy and safe daily. Food that makes us fat isn’t helping us in the least, although it might taste good at the time. Eating more fish than red meat is always a better option and it affects how our skin looks. Eating vegetables, fruit, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, are important foods to keep in our diet. Drinking too much coffee and other drinks with caffeine doesn’t do you a great deal of good.

We are, after all, a machine, and a machine needs to be serviced once in a while. Taking care of our bodies makes us go the extra mile more healthily and strongly. In an ideal world, getting regular checkups is essential so that anything that’s not desired is found as soon as possible and removed, or cured.

Drink more water

You shouldn’t wait until you are feeling thirsty to drink. Once you feel thirsty, you are already somewhat dehydrated, according to Baylor College of Medicine.

How are we with weight and health? Are we fit, do we need to be fitter, or are we overweight and need to lose a few kilos or pounds? Being underweight is also something to be wary of. We should be the right weight for our height and age, which is a good way to remain healthy. Taking care of our skin, hair, nails, and teeth are important as these are an indication of our age.

Social Aspect

Relationships with meaning can make us happier. These also give us a sense of peace of mind and help us feel and also look younger. Talking to friends, family, coworkers, and other people can make us feel good about ourselves. I’m not saying that you should go over to a stupid neighbor and start talking to them if they are not worth your time or effort. Such people do exist, and believe me, by staying away from them, you will be doing yourself a big favor.

Remain active

It’s good taking it easy, but it’s not good taking it easy for a very long time. If you can, try to be active every day of your life. Activities can make you healthier, and if you are older, they can also help you remember things better.

Alcohol intake

Reducing the level of alcohol helps in many ways. One of the most harmful things alcohol is responsible for is damaging your skin. I’m not saying you should not put a glass of wine to your lips, but always take alcohol in moderation.
